MANIFESTATION GIFTS

The third category of spiritual gifts that Paul mentions is energema or what I like to call “Manifestation Gifts” (1 Corinthians 12:6-11). God gives us manifestation gifts when He wants to give them and to whom He wants to give them. We may pray for them, but He determines when and if He will give them. You may receive manifestation gifts over and over. They are only for the need of the moment. Several manifestation gifts are mentioned in the Bible. This may not be an exhaustive list of manifestation gifts that God gives.

1. WISDOM is the perception of how to respond to a specific situation (1 Kings 3).

2. KNOWLEDGE is truth that comes to us supernaturally (John 1:47-48).

3. FAITH is trust in God for a specific situation.

4. HEALING is the experience of being supernaturally cured of an illness.

5. MIRACLE is the experience of a supernatural act of God in my life.

6. PROPHECY is the revelation of a sin and what its future consequences will be if there is no repentance.

7. DISTINGUISHING OF SPIRITS is the discernment that an evil spirit is working in a given situation.

8. TONGUES is the momentary ability to speak in a language you have not learned.

9. INTERPRETATION OF TONGUES is the momentary ability to translate a language that you have not learned when someone is speaking in that language.

THE GREATEST GIFT

None of the spiritual gifts that God gives us (member gifts, ministry gifts or manifestation gifts) are useful to God unless they are motivated by genuine love (1 Corinthians 12:31-13:13).
