Who We Are

Welcome to First Methodist Carrollton! Our congregation is deeply rooted - we've been worshipping in Carrollton, Texas for over 120 years. But over the years, we have made intentional decisions to follow God as He does new things all around us, all the time.

We are a multigenerational church, so there's a place for everyone here. Some of us have been here for decades, but many of us have found a home here in the last couple of years. We celebrate our children and youth, and they fully participate in the life of the church. In our worship services, we love to sing together, pray for each other, and be encouraged by the word of God.

We have made a deliberate decision to worship in a contemporary way, while still cherishing and integrating the historic songs, confessions, and prayers of our faith. As Methodists, we follow the calendar and liturgies of the Christian year. We celebrate Advent leading up to Christmas, and we journey through Lent and Holy Week before celebrating Easter. We focus on the major events that were important in Jesus' life, so that we can learn to be like Him and love God and people just as He did.

As Methodists, we talk a lot about grace. We celebrate the ways God gives His grace to us and the ways we can extend His grace to others. We experience God's grace together as we celebrate Holy Communion, baptism, prayer, worship, and the study of the Scriptures. We celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of every month, and it is always open to all who are seeking to follow Jesus.

We're passionate about missions and living out the gospel of Jesus Christ. We're committed to taking the good news of Jesus to places in the world where it's not, but we're also invested in our community. We are intentional about discipleship, helping each other grow in Christ, and walking in step with the Holy Spirit.

Over the years, we've been associated with various iterations of the Methodist movement. In 2023, we affiliated with the Global Methodist Church. The Global Methodist Church exists to make disciples of Jesus Christ and spread scriptural holiness across the globe.
